The Ubuntu Budgie team have announced the
release of Ubuntu Budgie 22.10 which offers nine
months of supports. The new version includes
Linux 5.19, software from GNOME 43, and the
PipeWire sound software. We are pleased to
announce the 22.10 release. This is a standard
release supported for nine months, packed full
of all sorts of new capabilities. The new
release has many new core updates as well as a
bleeding-edge version of Budgie itself the Linux
kernel 5.19 GNOME 43 stack with Mutter 11
PipeWire for everything audio related - this
replaces PulseAudio the Budgie desktop is
10.6.4, plus a whole suite of extra capabilities
pending the 10.7 release due in the next few
months an overhaul of our default applications.

antiX is a fast, lightweight and easy-to-install
Linux live CD distribution based on Debian's
Stable branch. The project's latest release,
antiX 22, substitutes a number of packages and
rebuilds packages to avoid dependency on
Debian's systemd package. "This is predominantly
an update of our last release (antiX-21), but
with a newer 4.9.0-326 kernel, latest 3 series
IceWM, latest firefox-esr 102.3 (full),
seamonkey 2.53.14 (base), improved localisation
and fixed Deb archive keys. mps-youtube has been
removed since it doesn't seem to work anymore.
Sakis3G replaces modem-manager(GUI). Note:
elogind, libpam-elogind and libelogind0 have
also been removed. Instead we use seatd and
consolekit. Many upstream core Debian packages
have been rebuilt to remove a hard dependency on
libsystemd0/libelogind0. These include apt,
cups, dbus, gvfs, openssh, policykit-1, procps,
pulseaudio, rpcbind, rsyslog, samba,
sane-backends, udisks2, util-linux, webkit2gtk
and xorg-server. Those using previous versions
of antiX 21 do not need to download this new
version. Simply upgrade via apt or synaptic." |

CRUX is a lightweight, Linux distribution for
computers running on 64-bit x86 processors. The
distribution is targeted at experienced Linux
users. The primary focus of this distribution is
"keep it simple". The project's latest release
is CRUX 3.7 which features version 5.15.55 of
the Linux kernel along with updates for the
X.Org display software and for Wayland. "CRUX
3.7 comes with a multilib toolchain which
includes glibc 2.36, gcc 12.2.0 and binutils
2.39; CRUX 3.7 now includes Wayland 1.21.0;
ports continue to default to X.Org, but Wayland
can easily be installed alongside and run in
either pure Wayland or Xwayland mode; if you
decide to run a Wayland session, you will need
to enable the 'contrib' collection and rebuild a
few ports (for example xorg/mesa) to make it
fully available; the ISO image is processed with
isohybrid and is suitable for burning on a CD
and putting on a USB drive; UEFI support is
available during installation with dosfstools,
efibootmgr and grub2-efi/syslinux is available
during installation; because all bootloaders are
in our opt collection now, no bootloader is
installed as a core port by default; to give the
possibility to select a bootloader we have added
a new menu to setup." |
