GhostBSD 24.01.1
GhostBSD is a desktop-oriented operating system
based on FreeBSD. The project's latest release,
GhostBSD 24.01.1, is based on FreeBSD 14-STABLE
and changes the way the root and first users are
handled at install time. "This new release is
based on FreeBSD 14.0-STABLE. Update Station got
a significant change to upgrade to a major
FreeBSD version, allowing upgrading GhostBSD
from 13.2-STABLE to 14.0-STABLE. Also, a major
change to the installer is the user created is
an admin, and the root user gets the same
password as the admin. If the admin password is
changed after the installation, the root
password will not change. Enhancement,
improvements, and new features: Adding support
for the future installer and simplified desktop
configuration. Search also in PKG description
(not only PKG name). New wallpapers for 24.01.
Preparing GhostBSD to upgrade to 14.0. Adding
search to description and Added -U to pkg query

Grml 2024.02 RC1
Grml is a bootable CD (live CD) based on Debian
GNU/Linux. It includes a collection of GNU/Linux
software especially for users of text tools and
system administrators. The project has published
a release candidate which introduces a number of
improvements and is based on Debian's Testing
"Trixie" branch. "Highlighting the most relevant
changes only: Misc: grml-hwinfo: add inxi output
and collect information about network devices
via ethtool. grml-live (build system for
creating Grml (based) Linux live systems):
Initial arm64 / aarch64 support; add support for
Debian/Trixie (current Debian/Testing); use
serial console with a setting of 115200n8 by
default; update zsh completion + ship it via
Debian package; unify boot options order between
isolinux/syslinux and GRUB; improved memtest +
chainloader handling; remove Grml release name
from the boot options; misc software related
changes in GRMLBASE, GRML_SMALL + GRML_FULL
classes. grml-zshrc (Zsh configuration): zshrc:
fixed outdated url in weather function;
/etc/skel/.zshrc: suggest J as global alias for

EasyOS 5.7
EasyOS is an experimental Linux distribution
which uses many of the technologies and package
formats pioneered by Puppy Linux. The
distribution features custom container
technology called Easy Containers which can run
applications or the entire desktop environment
in a container.
"New applications KeePassXC, Symphytum,
Flowblade, p7zip. More translations, in
particular Turkish and Russian. Improved support
for VMs, with AQEMU and QtEmu. Sudo replaced
with sudo-sh. Login and Security Manager
overhauled. Change folder hierachy to usr-merge,
including /usr/sbin. PKGget support to install
Void .xbps packages. Many system-level fixes,
including network and Samba. Many app versions
bumped, including Chromium, Htop, Limine,
Global-IP-TV-Panel. NVIDIA driver SFSs. Install
latest Chrome, Vivaldi and Firefox in menu.
Kernel now 5.15.148. Sync'ed with
OpenEmbedded/Yocto release 4.0.14." |
