Kali Linux 2023.4

Kali Linux is a Debian-based distribution with a collection of security and forensics tools. The project's latest snapshot is Kali Linux 2023.4 which features a number of usability improvements, many of them courtesy of GNOME 45: "With GNOME 45 hot off the press, Kali Linux is now supporting it! And is looking pretty in the process! For people who opt to use GNOME as their desktop environment, GNOME 45 is now here! If you do not read their changelog, below is a quick summary mixed with some of our tweaks: Full-height sidebars in many updated apps; highly improved speed of search in nautilus file manager; unfortunately the update for Nautilus was not ready for this release, but it will arrive as a later update soon; improved settings app (gnome-control-center); updated color-schemes for gnome-text-editor; updated themes for shell, libadwaita, gtk-3 and gtk-4; updated gnome-shell extensions; shell updates, including a new workspace indicator, replacing the previous Activities button; it is also possible to scroll your mouse wheel while hovering over the indicator to switch between workspaces."

Mabox Linux 23.12

"The December 2023 release of refreshed ISO images brings the latest 6.6 LTS kernel. Of course, there is still an ISO image available with the slightly older 5.4 LTS kernel version which may be a good choice for some older hardware. The Tint2 panel and Jgmenu are known for offering advanced users incredible capabilities and customization options. We use these possibilities in Mabox. One of the unique features of the Tint2 panel is the ability to connect your own actions (commands or scripts) to events such as left, middle or right click, mouse wheel up or down on panel elements. Conky in Mabox has been equipped with additional features that you will not find in any other Linux distribution. Here again, the wonderful Jgmenu was used with the addition of excellent glue - Bash scripts."

NixOS 23.11

NixOS is an independent distribution based around the Nix package andsystem manager. The project's latest release is NixOS 23.11 which upgrades the LLVM build software and introduces GNOME 45, along with several other package upgrades and new modules. "In addition to packages the NixOS distribution also features modules and tests that make it what it is. This release brought 113 new modules and removed 18. In that process we added 1565 options and removed 362. GNOME 45 - GNOME has been updated to version 45 "Rīga", which introduces a new image viewer, a new camera app, and more changes. Refer to the release notes for more details. Default LLVM version - The default version for the LLVM package set has been updated to 16 (from 11) on both Linux and Darwin, which introduced lots of new features and improvements. Rocky Linux 9.3

"We are pleased to announce the general availability of Rocky Linux 9.3. This release is currently available for the x86-64, aarch64, ppc64le and s390x architectures. The 9.3 release brings back cloud and container images for ppc64le that were not released with 9.2 due to issues with QEMU. These images may be divergent from the other architecture's images in some small ways, but we will work to reduce this delta in future releases of the images. OpenMandriva Lx 5.0

The OpenMandriva team have announced the availablity of a new release of their user-friendly, desktop-focused operating system. "OpenMandriva Lx 5.0, the long-awaited release of the independent, community controlled distribution’s fixed point release branch (as opposed to its rolling release branch), has been released. This is expected to be the last major release featuring the Plasma 5 desktop. In the 1.5 years since the previous fixed point release, OMLx 4.3, many things have changed. Among others, the new release is based on kernel 6.6 LTS (kernel-desktop-6.6.2 - 6.7.0-rc2 is also available), Mesa 23.3.0-rc4, Qt 5.15.11+KDE Patches and 6.6.0, KDE Frameworks 5.112, KDE Gear 23.08.3, Plasma 5.27.9.1, LibreOffice 7.6.3, and other current open source software. Outside of component updates, this is the first fixed point release that merges the / and /usr filesystems."
