MX Linux 16.1
The MX Linux team has announced the release of a
new version of their Debian-based distribution.
The new release, MX Linux 16.1, now supports
home directory encryption, offers the Adobe
Flash plug-in on the installation media and
features LibreOffice 5.2.6. "So what's new in
MX-16? 1. Installer improvements: The installer
now supports home folder encryption. This is an
experimental feature. An issue with partition
boot flags that affected certain makes of PC
(Dell) has been corrected. Auto-install now
works for UEFI systems. 2. We now have new
official Adobe Flash included on the ISO, thanks
to recently received permission from Adobe.
MX-Flash is not on the ISO and is now
deprecated. Install/uninstall option via the
regular package managers, including
MX-Packageinstaller on the 'Popular Apps' tab.
Note our Adobe Flash package will work with both
Firefox and Chromium (includes original classic
NPAPI and the PPAPI plugins ie: pepperflash). 3.
Tweaks to default user interface, including a
new default theme and new MX-Linux
wallpapers..."

Many of you might remember November 2014 when we
announced that we were going to fork Debian.
Well, we have done exactly that. It has been a
long process, but now over two years later, we
proudly present Devuan 1.0.0. There have been no
significant bug reports since RC2 was announced
only three weeks ago and the list of release
critical bugs is now empty. As promised, this
will also be a long-term support (LTS) release.
Our team will participate in providing patches,
security updates and release upgrades beyond the
planned lifespan of Debian 'Jessie'

We are happy to announce the release of pfSense
software version 2.3.4. This is a maintenance
release in the 2.3.x series, bringing stability
and bug fixes, fixes for a few security issues,
and a handful of new features. On the
2.3.4-RELEASE Dashboard you'll find a few
additional pieces of information - the BIOS
vendor, version, and release date (if the
firewall can determine them) and a Netgate
Unique ID. The Netgate Unique ID is similar to a
serial number, it is used to uniquely identify
an instance of pfSense software for customers
who want to purchase support services. For
hardware sold in our store, it also allows us to
tie units to our manufacturing records. This ID
is consistent across all platforms (bare metal,
virtual machines, and hosted/cloud instances
such as AWS/Azure). We had originally intended
to use the hardware serial number or the UUID
generated by the operating system, but we found
that these were unreliable.

exciting updates and features. As with all new

updated packages, an updated kernel that
provides more and better hardware support, as
well as a slew of updated tools - but this
release has a few more surprises up its sleeve.
A while back, we received a feature request
asking for the inclusion of drivers for
RTL8812AU wireless chipsets. These drivers are
not part of the standard Linux kernel, and have
been modified to allow for injection. Why is
this a big deal? This chipset supports 802.11
AC, making this one of the first drivers to
bring injection-related wireless attacks to this
standard.

This is the official release announcement for
IPFire 2.19 - Core Update 110. This updates
comes with some exciting new features as well as
updates of many system packages and many bug and
security fixes. IPFire used to keep IPsec VPNs
up all the time. This wastes resources if a
connection is not used very often for example
for a daily backup only. Core Update 110 allows
to configure IPsec VPNs in an On-Demand mode
which will establish the connection as soon as
it is needed and will close it after 15 minutes
of inactivity to save resources. This is
especially handy for people who have a large
number of IPsec net-to-net connections on either
weak hardware or connections that are not
required all the time like maintenance or backup
connections, etc.
