The MX Linux development team has announced the
release of MX Linux 19.2, a new stable version
of the project's desktop Linux distribution
based on Debian (stable) and antiX. This release
includes bug fixes and software updates: "We are
pleased to offer MX 19.2 for your use. MX 19.2
is the second refresh of our MX 19 release,
consisting of bug fixes and application updates
since our original release of MX 19. If you are
already running MX 19, there is no need to
reinstall. Packages are all available through
the regular update channel. The standard MX 19.2
releases (32-bit and 64-bit editions) feature
the latest Debian 4.19 Linux kernel and, unlike
in the past, the kernel will now auto-update
along with Debian sources by default. The AHS
(Advanced Hardware Support) ISO image features a
Debian 5.6 Linux kernel, MESA 20, as well as a
new updated firmware package. As usual, this
release includes the latest updates from Debian
10.4 and MX repositories: Xfce 4.14, GIMP
2.10.12, MESA 18.3.6 (20.0.7 ahs), updated
firmware, Firefox 76, VLC 3.0.10, Clementine
1.3.1, Thunderbird 68.6.1, LibreOffice 6.1.5
(plus security fixes)." |

Linux Lite 5.0
The new version improves UEFI support and swaps
out the old firewall utility for FireWallD. The
project's release announcement offers further
information: "Linux Lite 5.0 final, code name
'Emerald', is now available for download and
installation. This is the most feature-rich,
complete Linux Lite release to-date. UEFI is now
supported out of the box. It is recommended that
you disable Secure Boot even though it will
work, it's just a huge hassle to have it
enabled. See the new inbuilt Help Manual for
ways to do this on the Start page. No hidden
telemetry: Integrity Check during live boot (an
Ubuntu implementation) Crtl+C cancels check.
GUFW has been replaced by the highly
configurable FireWallD (disabled by default).
Please read the full guide in the Help Manual
under Tutorials. New Updater notifier: Enabled
by default to check for updates twice per day,
and only notify when there are updates. To
disable, Menu Settings, Session and Startup,
Application Autostart tab, untick Package Update
Indicator. Latest WhiskerMenu with new default
sort (Install Updates is now at the top of
Favorites)." |

the Debian 10 "Buster" repositories, although it
uses a newer kernel (version 5.4.40): "Version
2.3 is built with 10.4 DEBs, and there are
significant infrastructure and

version 5.4.40; Gpptp VPN network connection

b43 firmware. EasyOS uses NetworkManager by
default and one user of 2.2.16 reported Ethernet
not being detected and no IP lease obtained at
first boot-up. This has resulted in considerable

fallbacks to catch situations where
NetworkManager seems to be failing." |

GoboLinux 017, a new stable build of the
project's independently-developed Linux
distribution which departs from the standard
UNIX filesystem hierarchy by replacing it with
an database-like structure. The new GoboLinux

The OpenBSD project produces and operating
system which places focus on portability,
standardisation, code correctness, proactive
security and integrated cryptography. The
project's latest release is OpenBSD 6.7 which
introduces several new improvements to the cron
scheduling daemon, improvements to the web
server daemon, and the top command now offers
scrollable output. These and many more changes
can be found in the project's release
announcement: "This is a partial list of new
features and systems included in OpenBSD 6.7.
For a comprehensive list, see the changelog
leading to 6.7. General improvements and
bugfixes: Reduced the minimum allowed number of
chunks in a CONCAT volume from 2 to 1,
increasing the number of volumes which can be
created on a single disk with bioctl(8) from 7
to 15. This can be used to create more
partitions than previously. Rewrote the cron(8)
flag-parsing code to be getopt-like, allowing
tight formations like -ns and flag repetition.
Renamed the 'options' field in crontab(5) to
'flags'. Added crontab(5) -s flag to the command
field, indicating that only a single instance of
the job should run concurrently. Added cron(8)
support for random time values using the ~
operator. Allowed cwm(1) configuration of window
size based on percentage of the master window
during horizontal and vertical tiling actions." |
