NetBSD 10.0 RC1

"The NetBSD project is pleased to announce the first release candidate of the upcoming 10.0 release, please help testing. The netbsd-10 release branch is more than a year old now, so it is high time the 10.0 release makes it to the front stage. This matches the long time it took for the development branch to get ready for branching, a lot of development went into this new release. This also caused the release anouncement to be one of the longest we ever did. Especially on amd64 machines, please notes that we got a new DRM/KMS subsystem version and this may lead to fallout on some hardware. Unfortunately not all known bugs from the release engineering pre-release task list could be fixed in time for this release - we will continue to improve the current state and hope to have more of them solved for the next (10.1) release."

BackBox Linux 8.1

The new release continues to be based on the long-term supported Ubuntu 22.04, but includes an updated Linux kernel 5.15 and some bug fixes: "BackBox Linux 8.1 released. The BackBox team is happy to announce the updated release of BackBox Linux, version 8.1, code name 'Sara'. In this release, we have addressed a few minor bugs, updated the kernel stack and base system, and enhanced our hacking tools. What’s new: updated Linux Kernel 5.15; updated desktop environment; updated hacking tools; updated ISO Hybrid with UEFI support. System requirements: 64-bit processor; 1,024 MB of system memory (RAM); 30 GB of disk space for installation; graphics card capable of 800×600 resolution; DVD-ROM drive or USB port. The ISO image for 64bit architecture can be downloaded from the official web site download section."

The Fedora project has published a new release, Fedora 39, which includes GNOME 45, an updated version of Inkscape, and updated development tools. This release is also offered in a new atomic desktop flavour which uses the Budgie desktop and is called Fedora Onyx. "On November 6, 2003, the Fedora Project released the Fedora Core 1. GhostBSD 23.10.1

GhostBSD is a FreeBSD-based operating system with a focus on desktop computing. The project's latest release introduces a kernel update and a number of networking improvements, along with minor changes. "I am pleased to announce the release of GhostBSD 23.10.1. This version might look odd from previous releases, but it is correct. After more thought into it, the base OS is not updated as much as the software packages. So, I decided to change the release version back to a static one instead of changing it on each software package update. Software packages will be updated as often as possible, like before, and if there are significant issues, changes or security issues before 24.01.1, a 23.10.2 release will be created. See the roadmap for future releases. In this release, the FreeBSD base system and kernel have been updated to 1302508, and it contains software updates, some improvements to Update Station, and new features to NetworkMgr. Also, os-generic-userland-devtools has been removed from the default installation to downsize the live system image."
