Parrot Security OS is a Debian-based, security-oriented distribution featuring a collection of utilities designed for penetration testing and computer forensics. The project's latest release, 3.8, is based on Debian's Testing branch ("Buster") and includes support for working with ZFS storage volumes. "I am proud to announce the official release of Parrot 3.8, that introduces many new features and updates. A quick look at our changelog will immediately spot the most important changes: First of all, the new Parrot 3.8 is now based on Debian 10 Buster (current Debian Testing release) with Linux 4.12, ZFS support, better wireless drivers support and the introduction of the new MATE 1.18, GCC 6.4 and 7.2, Java 9 and so on, and all the Parrot flavors now include Electrum, a lightweight bitcoin client. We have not only fixed the previous DNS resolution issues, but also introduced a new round-robin model between both the default DNS servers provided by DHCP and our new OpenNIC DNS nodes hosted on our servers to prevent DNS censorship. Our OpenNIC nodes were not yet added to the OpenNIC server list but we would love to add them in the future."

MX Linux 16.1
The MX Linux team has announced the release of a new version of their Debian-based distribution. The new release, MX Linux 16.1, now supports home directory encryption, offers the Adobe Flash plug-in on the installation media and features LibreOffice 5.2.6. "So what's new in MX-16? 1. Installer improvements: The installer now supports home folder encryption. This is an experimental feature. An issue with partition boot flags that affected certain makes of PC (Dell) has been corrected. Auto-install now works for UEFI systems. 2. We now have new official Adobe Flash included on the ISO, thanks to recently received permission from Adobe. MX-Flash is not on the ISO and is now deprecated. Install/uninstall option via the regular package managers, including MX-Packageinstaller on the 'Popular Apps' tab. Note our Adobe Flash package will work with both Firefox and Chromium (includes original classic NPAPI and the PPAPI plugins ie: pepperflash). 3. Tweaks to default user interface, including a new default theme and new MX-Linux wallpapers..."

The project's latest release, Tails 2.10, now includes the OnionShare utility for sharing files from the user's computer over the Tor network. The Tor web browser now features a circuit viewer which will show the nodes a person's web traffic is routed through as it makes its way through the Tor network. Other changes include: "Upgrade Tor to 0.2.9.9. Upgrade Tor Browser to 6.5. Upgrade Linux to 4.8. This should improve the support for newer hardware (graphics, Wi-Fi, etc.) Upgrade Icedove to 45.6.0. Replace AdBlock Plus with uBlock Origin. Configure the APT package manage to use Debian's Onion services. Install the AMDGPU display driver. This should improve the support for newer AMD graphics adapters. Renamed the boot loader menu entries from 'Live' to 'Tails' and replaced the confusing 'failsafe' wording with 'Troubleshooting Mode'."
