The new version also supports working with VeraCrypt encrypted storage volumes, along with reading news feeds in Thunderbird. "You can now install additional software automatically when starting Tails. When installing an additional Debian package from Tails, you can decide to install it automatically every time. To check your list of additional software packages, choose Applications->System Tool->Additional Software. The packages included in Tails are carefully tested for security. Installing additional packages might break the security built in Tails, so be careful with what you install. To unlock VeraCrypt volume in Tails, choose Applications->System Tool->Unlock VeraCrypt Volumes. The integration of VeraCrypt in the Files and Disks utilities was done upstream in GNOME and will be available outside of Tails in Debian 10 (Buster) and Ubuntu 18.10 (Cosmic Cuttlefish)."

"Tails 3.8 is out. This release fixes many security issues and users should upgrade as soon as possible. Upgrades and changes: upgrade Enigmail from 1.9.9 to 2.0.7 which fixes some of the EFAIL attacks on OpenPGP; when starting Thunderbird for the first time after upgrading to Tails 3.8, you have to go through the Enigmail Setup Wizard again, your OpenPGP keys and your per-recipient rules are preserved. Fixed problems: fix importing OpenPGP keys from email attachments; fix the translations of the homepage of the Unsafe Browser."

Version 3.2 of Tails (The Amnesic Incognito Live System), a Debian-based live DVD/USB with the goal of providing complete Internet anonymity for the user, has been released. This is mostly a security update, although it also comes with some component upgrades, including Linux kernel 4.12: "Tails 3.2 is out. This release fixes many security issues and users should upgrade as soon as possible. New features: we added support for PPPoE and dial-up Internet connections, please tell us if this still doesn't work for you; we installed BookletImposer to convert linear PDF documents into booklets and vice-versa; we added GNOME Screen Keyboard to replace Florence, the previous virtual keyboard, which had many issues. Upgrades and changes: upgraded Linux to 4.12.12, this should improve the support for newer hardware, especially NVIDIA Maxwell graphics card; upgraded Thunderbird from 45.8 to 52.3. This version requires an 8 GB USB stick to install Tails, any 4 GB USB sticks that are already installed can still be upgraded."

The project's latest release, Tails 2.10, now includes the OnionShare utility for sharing files from the user's computer over the Tor network. The Tor web browser now features a circuit viewer which will show the nodes a person's web traffic is routed through as it makes its way through the Tor network. Other changes include: "Upgrade Tor to 0.2.9.9. Upgrade Tor Browser to 6.5. Upgrade Linux to 4.8. This should improve the support for newer hardware (graphics, Wi-Fi, etc.) Upgrade Icedove to 45.6.0. Replace AdBlock Plus with uBlock Origin. Configure the APT package manage to use Debian's Onion services. Install the AMDGPU display driver. This should improve the support for newer AMD graphics adapters. Renamed the boot loader menu entries from 'Live' to 'Tails' and replaced the confusing 'failsafe' wording with 'Troubleshooting Mode'."
