BSD Release: OPNsense 16.1
16.1 is nick-named `Crafty Coyote' in honour of our beloved childhood TV sessions. It is the accumulation of 6 months of work, having had our focus on re engineering the captive portal, native intrusion prevention, plugin support, and transforming the reporting front-end into something more modern and flexible just to name a few. Apart from the recently published security advisories, we have included a quick navigation feature which can be activated by pressing (TAB) followed by search keywords and hitting (ENTER) to go to the desired page. Last but not least, a larger batch of improvements and fixes went into assorted sections of the GUI that certainly help to get your work done without ending up dazed and confused.

The developers of HandyLinux have released a new version of their beginner-friendly, French language distribution. The new release of HandyLinux, version 2.3, is based on Debian "Jessie" and features a number of updates and improvements. The Handy menu will now provide users with a list of recently accessed documents. The distribution ships with HandySoft, a simplified package manager that replaces GNOME's default software manager. Handylinux 2.3 also offers users an assistant program that helps users in finding solutions to problems along with tutorials for common tasks. This release ships with Iceweasel 43, a re-branded version of the Firefox web browser. This release carries the code name "Ian" in memory of Debian's founder, Ian Murdock.

The Linux Mint team has announced the availability of two new community releases. The new editions, "KDE" and "Xfce", are community spins of Linux Mint 17.3 and feature the same enhancements to the distribution's update manager and driver manager. The new community editions are based on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS and will continue to receive security updates through to 2019. "Linux Mint 17.3 is a long term support release which will be supported until 2019. It comes with updated software and brings refinements and many new features to make your desktop even more comfortable to use." Linux Mint 17.3 supports booting on computers with UEFI enabled, but does not support SecureBoot, the project recommends disabling SecureBoot prior to attempting to install Linux Mint.
