The Ubuntu release team has announced the release of both
Ubuntu 16.04.7 and 18.04.5. These releases offer up to date
install media with package fixes rather than entirely new
versions of the distribution. The new media includes fixes
for the recent Boothole GRUB boot loader issue: "Similar to
the 16.04.6 point release, 16.04.7 is a security-targeted
release for the purpose of providing updated installation
media which protects new installations from the recently
discovered GRUB 2 vulnerabilities (USN-4432-1)." |

BunsenLabs Linux Lithium
The BunsenLabs development team has announced the release of
BunsenLabs Linux Lithium, a major new version from the
project that offers a lightweight and customisable Linux
distribution based on Debian's "stable" branch and featuring
the Openbox window manager: "BunsenLabs Linux is pleased to
announce Lithium, the latest release of our Debian stable
(currently 'Buster') derivative. Core components include the
Openbox window manager, tint2, a highly configurable panel,
and jgmenu - a menu replacement for the Openbox menu,
featuring menu auto-updating when new applications are
installed and type-to-search for finding apps in the menu.
Some major features of BunsenLabs Lithium: new dark default
theme, featuring custom-colored Papirus icons; more
modularity and flexibility, eg. the BunsenLabs session can
coexist with a default Openbox or Xfce session; Openbox can
be replaced with another window manager and keep BunsenLab's
auto-started apps, menu and key bindings...." |

EndeavourOS is a rolling release Linux distribution based on
Arch Linux. The project aims to be a spiritual successor to
Antergos - providing an easy setup and pre-configured
desktop environment on an Arch base. The distribution's
latest snapshot introduces some package updates along with
some new tools for cleaning up package management
information and installing alternative kernels. "Package
cleanup configuration - A handy tool to set the system to
clean up the paccache history of installed packages and
reduce it to the last three versions of each installed

Slackel 7.3 Openbox
Slackel is a Linux distribution and live CD based on
Slackware Linux and Salix OS. The project's latest release
is Slaxel 7.3 "Openbox" which brings the distribution up to
date with Slackware's development branch. "What is new: slim
login manager is used as default; Gdm exists also but it is
not used because of font rendering problems; Slackel Live
Installer (SLI) can now do a real installation to an
external USB stick or USB SSD or USB hard disk, creating the
necessary initrd for booting - for this, just create an
MSDOS partition table on /dev/sdb or /dev/sdc and a Linux
ext4 partition on /dev/sdb1 or on /dev/sdc1 where /dev/sdb
is your first USB device, /dev/sdc the second USB plug in
device, sign the /dev/sdb1 or /dev/sdc1 bootable, create
also a Linux swap partition to /dev/sdb2 or /dev/sdc2, with
a size of 2 GB or 4 GB depending on the available memory; if
you boot using a Slackel live Openbox DVD then your external
USB device will be recognized as /dev/sdb, but if you boot
using a Slackel Live Openbox USB then the second USB you
will use for real installation will be recognized as
/dev/sdc."
