The Fedora team have announced the release of Fedora 41. The project latest release ships with version 6.11 of the Linux kernel, RPM 4.20, and GNOME 47 for the project's Workstation edition. This release also removes GNOME's X11 support in the Workstation edition. "Fedora Workstation 41 is based on GNOME 47. Notably for command-line users, we've changed the default terminal to GNOME Console. It's more lightweight, but has some nice new features as well. (GNOME Terminal is still there if you need some of the flexibility it offers.) Fedora KDE Plasma Desktop ships with the latest KDE 6.2 release. See What's New in Fedora KDE 41? for more. Manjaro Linux 24.1.0 GNOME 46.5

The new release comes with GNOME 46.5 and Linux kernel 6.10: "Since we released 'Wynsdey' in May 2024, we worked hard to get the next release of Manjaro out there. We call it Xahea. The GNOME edition has received several updates to GNOME 46 series. This includes a lot of fixes and polish when GNOME 46 originally was released in March 2024. The Plasma edition comes with the latest Plasma 6.1 series 1 and KDE Gear 24.08 1. It brings exciting new improvements to your desktop. Plasma 6 hits its stride with version 6.1. While Plasma 6.0 was all about getting the migration to the underlying Qt 6 frameworks correct, 6.1 is where developers start implementing the features that will take your desktop to a new level."

"We are proud to present AryaLinux 1.0 'Aranya'. This is the first release of our built-from-scratch GNOME spin and also the first release using a new versioning system. This release features the GNOME 3.28 desktop environment, a new alps package installer scripts rewritten from scratch to be more flexible with dependencies, the latest stable kernel and a bunch of package upgrades. Also going forward, the default desktop environment that will be shipped with AryaLinux will be GNOME 3. Trisquel GNU/Linux is an Ubuntu-based desktop distribution which features free and open source software exclusively. The project's latest release, Trisquel 8.0 "Flidas", is based on Ubuntu 16.04 and includes support through to the year 2021. "The biggest internal change to the default edition is the switch from GNOME to MATE 1.12. The main reason for this change was that GNOME dropped support for their legacy desktop, which retained the GNOME 2.x user experience and didn't require 3D composition -- a feature that in many computers would still need non-free software to run at full speed. MATE provides a perfect drop-in replacement, it is very light and stable and it retains all the user experience design that we are used to from previous Trisquel releases. The next most important component is Abrowser 59 (based on Mozilla Firefox), which is not only fully-featured and quite faster than before, it has also been audited and tweaked to maximize the user's privacy without compromising on usability."
