Kubuntu 24.04.2 torrent

"The Ubuntu team is pleased to announce the release of Ubuntu 24.04.2 LTS (Long-Term Support) for its Desktop, Server, and Cloud products, as well as other flavours of Ubuntu with long-term support. As usual, this point release includes many updates and updated installation media has been provided so that fewer updates will need to be downloaded after installation. These include security updates and corrections for other high-severity bugs, with a focus on maintaining stability and compatibility with Ubuntu 24.04 LTS."

Kubuntu 24.10

The Kubuntu team have announced the release of Kubuntu 24.10, a short-term release version which offers nine months of support. The new release features KDE Plasma 6.1 and defaults to using a Wayland desktop session. "The Kubuntu team is happy to announce that Kubuntu 24.10 has been released, featuring the new and beautiful KDE Plasma 6.1 simple by default, powerful when needed. Under the hood, there have been updates to many core packages, including a new 6.11 based kernel, KDE Frameworks 5.116 and 6.6.0, KDE Plasma 6.1 and many updated KDE gear applications. Kubuntu has seen many updates for other applications, both in our default install and installable from the Ubuntu archive. Applications for core day-to-day usage are included and updated, such as Firefox and LibreOffice. The Plasma Wayland session is now the default option in sddm (display manager login screen). An X11 session can be selected instead if desired. The last used session type will be remembered, so you do not have to switch type on each login."

Manjaro Linux 24.1.0 KDE

The new release comes with GNOME 46.5 and Linux kernel 6.10: "Since we released 'Wynsdey' in May 2024, we worked hard to get the next release of Manjaro out there. We call it Xahea. This is our 11th release this year, which is intended as a fixing release.

There has been an increased amount of reports, that people with RDNA3 and AMD iGPU's were not able to get a graphical session on the ISO, this has been fixed with adding xf86-video-amdgpu. Besides that there are some fixes for the sddm wayland session for KDE, which should be now fully resolved. There are some more fixes with the upcoming Plasma 6.2 release, which should make the experience better.

KDE neon 20240229

Hot on the heals of the KDE 6 MegaRelease announcement comes an updated build of KDE neon. The latest version, labelled as 20240229, continues to be based on Ubuntu 22.04 LTS, but it integrates the brand-new KDE releases, including Plasma 6, KDE Frameworks 6 and all the applications from KDE Gear 24.02: "Today KDE has made its biggest release ever, never before in the 25-year history of the project have we announced so many new products at the same time, but it brings the newly-refreshed base to keep our software foundation strong.
