Manjaro Linux 24.1.0 KDE

The new release comes with GNOME 46.5 and Linux kernel 6.10: "Since we released 'Wynsdey' in May 2024, we worked hard to get the next release of Manjaro out there. We call it Xahea. The GNOME edition has received several updates to GNOME 46 series. This includes a lot of fixes and polish when GNOME 46 originally was released in March 2024. The Plasma edition comes with the latest Plasma 6.1 series 1 and KDE Gear 24.08 1. It brings exciting new improvements to your desktop. Plasma 6 hits its stride with version 6.1. While Plasma 6.0 was all about getting the migration to the underlying Qt 6 frameworks correct, 6.1 is where developers start implementing the features that will take your desktop to a new level."

This is our 11th release this year, which is intended as a fixing release.

There has been an increased amount of reports, that people with RDNA3 and AMD iGPU's were not able to get a graphical session on the ISO, this has been fixed with adding xf86-video-amdgpu. Besides that there are some fixes for the sddm wayland session for KDE, which should be now fully resolved. There are some more fixes with the upcoming Plasma 6.2 release, which should make the experience better.

KDE neon 20240229

Hot on the heals of the KDE 6 MegaRelease announcement comes an updated build of KDE neon. The latest version, labelled as 20240229, continues to be based on Ubuntu 22.04 LTS, but it integrates the brand-new KDE releases, including Plasma 6, KDE Frameworks 6 and all the applications from KDE Gear 24.02: "Today KDE has made its biggest release ever, never before in the 25-year history of the project have we announced so many new products at the same time, but it brings the newly-refreshed base to keep our software foundation strong. KDE neon User edition has now been updated with KDE Frameworks 6, Plasma 6 and all the apps from KDE Gear 24.02. You can upgrade through Discover or grab the newest installable ISO build. If you just want to give it a try then give the Docker images a go."
