Calculate Linux 20.6 - LXQt.
"To celebrate the 20th anniversary of Calculate Ltd, we are pleased to unveil the new Calculate Linux 20.6 release. This new version provides numerous optimizations, namely shorter boot-up time, reduced memory requirements, and added pre-configured web browser extensions for Nextcloud support. Main changes: by default, Zram is used instead of the physical swap partition; Zstd compression for the kernel, the modules and initramfs; Linux kernel modules installed as packages come as Zstd archives too; PulseAudio is used by default, but you can choose ALSA if you like; Chromium comes with the pre-configured uBlock Origin plug-in; the Passman and FreedomMarks can be also added to your web browser...."

"This new version of our distribution is built on the foundations of Emmabun?s DE3 under Debian 11 Bullseye, and is now swapping LXDE with LXQt, and support an direct install from the ISO, without the need of an additional post-install step. In order to improve the LXQt experience, we added the Falkon internet browser which allows the usage of only 1GB of RAM. We took also the opportunity of this new release to remove some obsolete software and to clean up the amount of offered software, when they were less useful, or redundant. On the other end, we introduced some help-oriented utilities like inxi/inxi-gui, and some others to help our distribution : SMTube, font-manager and mediainfo-gui. We also replaced Nomacs by gThumb, which provides a easy management of the user picture collections."

"For this new release, Gentoo 17.1 was used as the base profile, all binary packages recompiled with GCC 9.2, and overlays managed with eselect. Calculate Linux will no longer come in 32-bit edition. Change list: a local overlay has been added; you can run 'emerge --config' to launch the new cl-config tool for service configuration; 'modesetting' video driver supported; CPU-X has been replaced by the graphical HardInfo utility for better hardware browsing; MPlayer has been replaced by mpv; cronie replaces vixie-cron for cron job scheduling; fixed single disk auto-detection for installation; fixed bug where several applications played ALSA audio at the same time; fixed default audio device configuration; Xfce desktop has been updated to 4.14...."

The Lubuntu project, in 18.10 and successive releases, will no longer support the LXDE desktop environment or tools in the Ubuntu archive and will instead focus on the LXQt desktop environment. You can find the following major applications and toolkits installed by default in this release: LXQt 0.13.0, with many bugfixes and improvements backported from upstream; Qt 5.11.1, which is the first point release in the Qt 5.11 series; Mozilla Firefox 62, which will receive updates from the Ubuntu security team throughout the support cycle of the release; the LibreOffice 6.1.2 suite with the Qt 5 frontend; VLC 3.0.4 for viewing media and listening to music; Featherpad 0.9.0 for notes and code editing....."
