The Linux Mint team has announced the availability of a new development snapshot, Linux Mint 20.2 Beta. The new beta offers a number of new changes, including the ability to update Cinnamon Spice (desktop extension) updates through the update manager. This release also keeps track of how long new security updates have been waiting and can notify the user if their system is becoming out of date. "In the past, available updates were simply indicated by a little orange dot on the Update Manager's icon in the system tray and could go unnoticed for long periods of time. In Linux Mint 20.2 the Update Manager is now able to remember how long each update has been available for, how many days the computer was ON during that time and assess whether or not a notification would be welcome to remind you of available updates. This new notification feature was designed to add comfort to the user experience, not remove any, so making sure it was a nice addition and not an annoying distraction was key. The way this is handled in other operating systems such as Windows or Mac for instance was an example Linux Mint did not want to follow."

Bodhi Linux is an Ubuntu-based distribution which combined Ubuntu's long-term support (LTS) release with the Moksha desktop, which is a fork of the Enlightenment user interface. "Today the Bodhi Team is pleased to announce the release of Bodhi Linux 6.0. Bodhi 6.0 is built on the Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS (Focal Fossa) base. Our Arc-Green theme underwent a major revamp now featuring an animated background, updated splash screen, and numerous tweaks. The BL6 login screen now features the elegant slick greeter. Naturally, there also is a new Plymouth theme. The Moksha desktop environment has had numerous improvements and a few new features added. In addition to all this, the Bodhi Team has tried to improve support for non-English languages. As a result, we now install by default the gnome language tool. None of this would have been possible without the support of the Bodhi community and the volunteer work of our small group of translators."

GhostBSD 21.04.27
This release updates the base system to FreeBSD 13.0: "I am happy to announce the availability of the new ISO image, 21.04.27. When we started to port all the GhostBSD code from 12.2-STABLE to 13.0-STABLE, several problems arose with OpenRC, devd and drivers not loading at boot. We discovered that OpenRC devd and devmatch services implementations were not working properly. We had to create rc.devmatch to replace the OpenRC service implementation of devmatch.conf for devd. With devmatch now starting properly, all drivers get loaded at boot and when a new device is inserted. In addition, we were able to remove all changes we made in the GENERIC kernel, making the default kernel a bit smaller. I fixed ntpd and WireGuard services. Automatic configuration for network cards has been removed from NetworkMgr and added to the script started by devd."
