The deepin project has introduced a new development snapshot, called "25 Preview", which offers immutable mount points and atomic updates: "Core system files of solid are mounted with read-only permissions. Software and drivers can be installed as system extensions. Supports disabling, updating, and managing system extensions. Atomic updates improve system update speed using incremental data. Automatic rollback to the last backup if updates fail or the system is unbootable. Supports worry-free restoration configuration, enabling instant system recovery after a reboot. Backup and restore snapshots provide ultra-fast backup speeds in seconds with minimal disk space usage (compatible with backup and restore tools). Deepin desktop environment has undergone comprehensive optimization, including QML restructuring of the Control Center and Notification Center. From visual design to interaction, core functions have been upgraded, delivering a more intuitive and user-friendly graphical interface. The desktop environment has also been redesigned to include thoughtful new features, significantly improving user experience. These optimizations lay a solid foundation for future desktop environment development, ensuring ongoing improvement and adaptation to user needs."

The deepin distribution is based on Debian and features the custom-made Deepin Desktop Environment (Deepin DE). The project's latest release is version 23 which introduces atomic updates and support for a wider range of CPU architectures. The new CPU support includes install media and packages for ARM and RISC-V processors. "The system repository packages have been comprehensively upgraded to enhance stability and security, and better support new hardware and architectures such as ARM64, RISC-V, and LoongArch64. Established a new V23 repository for the upgrade of over 8,000 core packages. Introduced a new installation and upgrade mechanism to reduce disk space occupation during whole disk installation. Provided a flexible upgrade backup mechanism to ensure user rollback capability in case of upgrade anomalies, and offered users the ability to manage multiple versions. Optimized system backup solutions to reduce disk space usage compared to the previous A/B partition scheme. Added the "Atomic Update" capability, allowing users to flexibly roll back or switch system versions based on backup restore points."

OpenMediaVault is a Network-Attached Storage (NAS) solution based on Debian GNU/Linux. The project's latest release, OpenMediaVault 7.0, is based on Debian 12 introduces new notification and monitoring tools to make managing the NAS more efficient. Grml is a bootable CD (live CD) based on Debian GNU/Linux. It includes a collection of GNU/Linux software especially for users of text tools and system administrators. The project has published a release candidate which introduces a number of improvements and is based on Debian's Testing "Trixie" branch. "Highlighting the most relevant changes only: Misc: grml-hwinfo: add inxi output and collect information about network devices via ethtool. grml-live (build system for creating Grml (based) Linux live systems): Initial arm64 / aarch64 support; add support for Debian/Trixie (current Debian/Testing); use serial console with a setting of 115200n8 by default; update zsh completion + ship it via Debian package; unify boot options order between isolinux/syslinux and GRUB; improved memtest + chainloader handling; remove Grml release name from the boot options; misc software related changes in GRMLBASE, GRML_SMALL + GRML_FULL classes. grml-zshrc (Zsh configuration): zshrc: fixed outdated url in weather function; /etc/skel/.zshrc: suggest J as global alias for jq usage."

SysLinuxOS 12.3

This version is based on Debian 12 and comes with a long-term supported 6.5 version of the Linux kernel. "SysLinuxOS is updated to version 12.3. In this version, numerous bugs have been fixed and it also brings with it several improvements to make it much more intuitive and easy to use. Many changes are under the hood, while others are purely aesthetic, and they improve the menu and icons in both GNOME and MATE desktop environments. SysLinuxOS is a distribution for system integrators and network administrators, it must be chameleonic and therefore have tools that help to interface in a mixed Windows/Linux environment. In this update, I have excluded two or three programs in favor of others that I believe are more useful for greater interoperability. I have therefore added WoeUSB, Teams for Linux, Webex, Github Desktop, Wiregui, Timeshift. As you can easily imagine, there is a lot of work behind this, so I apologize in advance if you encounter any small problems."
