Relianoid 7.0

Relianoid is a Debian-based, load balancing operating system. The project has published a new release, Relianoid 7.0, which is based on Debian 12 "Bookworm", and includes OpenSSL 3. "This release provides a huge step in regards of big upgrade of the Operating System as it is based on Debian Bookworm 12.2 with Linux Kernel 6.1 which is very significant in regards to bootup speed and drivers improvements for a better system resource usage. Also, the Linux the kernel has continued to evolve with ongoing codebase cleanups and maintenance, ensuring stability and reliability in the Linux ecosystem. OpenSSL version 3 (OpenSSL 3.0.0), which is a significant update to the widely-used cryptographic library, brings several key improvements, including enhanced modularity, improved security, and better support for modern cryptographic algorithms and protocols. OpenSSL 3 introduces a modular architecture, allowing developers to more easily customize their builds and reduce the attack surface. It features better support for the latest TLS versions, like TLS 1.3, as well as post-quantum cryptographic algorithms, addressing emerging security concerns."

The project has published a new snapshot which facilitates the handling of updates and streamlines the distribution's install media. "As of now, garuda-update should be able to handle any conflict that recently occurred mostly due to the already mentioned Arch package name changes. In case you missed it, please read the announcement to understand what is going on. Furthermore, it applies the Archlinux repo migration which happened since our last release, and fixes a few more update potential update blockers. For everyone still using 'pacman -Syu' without being able to work around issues like this manually, please ensure always using garuda-update as it was made exactly for this purpose :blush: A few editions have been dropped from our line-up. The reason behind this is quite simple - they are not getting necessary maintenance or are missing a maintainer. The logical choice is to no longer offer them to the public."

MX Linux 23.1

The MX Linux development team has announced the release of MX Linux 23.1, an updated build of the project's Debian-based distribution with the SysV init system and a choice of Xfce, KDE Plasma and Fluxbox desktops: "We are pleased to offer MX Linux 23.1 for your use. MX 23.1 is the first refresh of our MX 23 release, consisting of bug fixes, kernel and application updates since our original release of MX 23. If you are already running MX 23, there is no need to reinstall. Packages are all available through the regular update channel. Highlights include: Debian 12.2 'Bookworm' base; new and updated applications. Some highlights include: installer updates addressing swap file, hibernation and OEM install improvements; the KDE release features an updated sddm init script that eliminates the 'restart' of sddm on SySVInit boot; the AHS Xfce release features the 6.5 kernel, updated firmware and MESA libraries; Fluxbox has a new key binding reference script displaying default hotkeys."
