This is our 11th release this year, which is intended as a fixing release.

There has been an increased amount of reports, that people with RDNA3 and AMD iGPU's were not able to get a graphical session on the ISO, this has been fixed with adding xf86-video-amdgpu. Besides that there are some fixes for the sddm wayland session for KDE, which should be now fully resolved. There are some more fixes with the upcoming Plasma 6.2 release, which should make the experience better.

Ubuntu 24.10 Beta

Canonical has published a beta snapshot for Ubuntu 24.10. The release notes mention OpenSSL, systeemd 256.5, and GNOME has been upgraded to version 47. "GNOME has been updated to include new features and fixes from the latest GNOME release, GNOME 47 126. In GNOME Shell and Mutter, Ubuntu includes additional patches to enhance stability and performance, which have not yet been merged upstream. The Ubuntu dock now visualises snap refreshes and includes better handling for PWAs installed via the Chromium snap. The Sysprof app is installed by default as a new system utility. This makes it easier to discover performance issues in your apps."

Peropesis 2.7

Peropesis (personal operating system) is a small-scale, minimalist, command-line-based Linux operating system. The project's latest version is Peropesis 2.7, introduces archive and ISO management tools. "Peropesis 2.7 is released. In the new edition part of the old software was updated and several new software packages were installed. The newly installed software is designed to perform file system archiving and ISO image creation tasks. In parallel with the 2.7 release, a new user manual chapter - Editing ISO image content was created. New chapter provides an example of how to edit the Peropesis file system using the newly installed tools. New software installed: 1. cpio 2.15. cpio is a command-line-based tool for creating, extracting and copying archives. 2. Squashfs-tools 4.6.1. Squashfs-tools is a tool for creating Squashfs type file systems. Squashfs is a compressed read-only file system for Linux. 3. xorriso 1.5.6.pl02. xorriso - creates, loads, manipulates and writes ISO 9660 filesystem images with Rock Ridge extensions."

Kubuntu 24.04.1

Canonical has announced the availability of a minor update to the Ubuntu 24.04 LTS series. The 24.04.1 update features fixes for the year 2038 bug on ARM devices along with updates to the kernel, systemd, and there is now an official upgrade path from Ubuntu 23.10 to 24.04.1. "Ubuntu 24.04 LTS will be supported for 5 years until June 2029. If you need Long Term Support, we recommend you use Ubuntu 22.04 LTS 5.5k until 24.04.1 is released. Users of Ubuntu 23.10 will be offered an automatic upgrade to 24.04 soon after the release. Users of 22.04 LTS however will be offered the automatic upgrade when 24.04.1 LTS is released, which is scheduled for the 15th of August. Ubuntu 24.04 LTS solves the Year 2038 problem 1.4k that existed on armhf."

PorteuX 1.6 Gnome

PorteuX is a Linux distribution based on Slackware Linux, inspired by Slax and Porteus. The project's latest release is version 1.6 which updates KDE Plasma to version 6 and provides minor updates to other, supported desktops. This release also includes an updated NVIDIA driver. "Improved Cinnamon application menu update when modules are activated/deactivated. Improved GCC flags for better performance. Changed CPU governor to performance for amd-pstate-epp CPUs also in stable. Changed changes cheatcode to EXIT: by default -- this will improve session performance considerably when using slow storage units. Removed texinfo from 05-devel. Updated kernel to 6.10.6. Updated Nvidia driver to 560.35.03. Updated Cinnamon to 6.2.9 (current). Updated GNOME to 46.4 (current). Updated KDE to 6.1.4 (current)."
