Proxmox 9.0 "Virtual Environment"

Proxmox is a commercial company offering specialised products based on Debian GNU/Linux, notably Proxmox Virtual Environment, an open-source virtualisation platform. Proxmox 9.0 Virtual Environment has been released and it uses Debian 13 "Trixie" as its base. PorteuX 2.2

The Slackware-based PorteuX project has published a new release, version 2.2, which introduces several changes to the kernel and includes a fix for Xfce not locking the desktop properly. "In Xfce current there is a potential critical issue when using an NVIDIA card with Mesa drivers 25.1.x and the Xfce compositor (xfwm4) with vsync set to glx (or auto, which usually means glx). Because of this, PorteuX now forces xfwm4's vsync to use xpresent by default. Since kernel 6.12, VirtualBox may not work because the kernel initializes virtualization on KVM module loading by default. To avoid this, PorteuX added kvm.enable_virt_at_load=0 to the APPEND line in boot/syslinux/porteux.cfg. You can revert this by editing the file, and to fix VirtualBox, you need to unload the KVM kernel modules manually with the following command: sudo modprobe -r kvm_amd kvm_intel kvm. The Kernel .config file has been significantly changed, removing support for obsolete hardware and enabling Squashfs multi-threading, which increased memory usage by 100 MB but improved performance. The kernel module is now much larger due to a recent NVIDIA firmware update."

Rescuezilla 2.6.1

The Rescuezilla project has pubilshed updated media for its 2.6.x series. The new release fixes a bug with swap partitions remaining mounted during operations and updates the distribution's hardware support. "If you have a blank screen, try 'Graphical Fallback Mode' from the Rescuezilla boot menu (after selecting a language), if that doesn't work, try the alternative ISO image; each variant has slightly different video drivers and Linux kernel versions, so often have slightly different graphics support; adds release based on Ubuntu 25.04 'Plucky' for best support of new hardware; fixed regression where swap partitions stayed unintentionally mounted causing restore and clone operations to destination disks containing Linux swap partitions to fail; re-enabled Image Explorer (beta) after it was temporarily disabled in 2.6.0; enabled Firefox on the Ubuntu 24.10 'Oracular' release after it was temporarily excluded in 2.6.0; added ability to specify NFS version - NFSv3, NFSv4 and the (existing default) of automatically negotiating down; improved touchpad support for tap-to-click and multifinger gestures using libinput driver...."

SparkyLinux 7.8 XFCE

The SparkyLinux project has published an update to its Stable branch which also fixes a package conflict when working with some multimedia packages. GParted Live 1.7.0-8

This release release drops support for 32-bit processors due to Debian's decision to no longer pack i386 Linux kernel and it also updates the Linux kernel to version 6.12.37. "The GParted team is pleased to announce a new stable release of GParted Live. This release includes GParted 1.7.0, updated packages and other improvements.
