Rocky Linux is a community enterprise operating system designed to be 100% compatible with Red Hat Enterprise Linux. The project's latest version is a release candidate for Rocky Linux 8.4. A focus has been placed on kernel improvements, networking, and security. "The Rocky Enterprise Software Foundation (RESF) is pleased to announce the availability of the Rocky Linux 8.4 release candidate for x86_64 and ARM64 (aarch64). Please note that a release candidate is not suitable for production use. The upgrade from Rocky Linux 8.3 RC1 to Rocky Linux 8.4 RC1 is not supported, meaning it will not be tested nor documented. Major changes: IPsec VPN provided by Libreswan now supports TCP encapsulation and security labels for IKEv2; the scap-security-guide packages have been rebased to version 0.1.54 and OpenSCAP has been rebased to version 1.3.4; these updates provide substantial improvements, including improved memory management; the fapolicyd framework now provides integrity checking, and the RPM plugin now registers any system update that is handled by either the YUM or the RPM package manager."

VzLinux is the latest of the growing numbers of Red Hat Enterprise Linux clones and another potential alternative for those thinking to migrate away from the abandoned CentOS 8 distribution. It is a completely free and open-source product developed by Swiss-based Virtuozzo International GmbH and it compliments its range of specialist commercial solutions based on VzLinux. Yesterday, the company announced the release of VzLinux 8.3 to the general public: "Virtuozzo, a global leader in high-efficiency virtualization and hyperconverged software solutions, today released its latest VzLinux operating system (VzLinux 8) to the general public. Bodhi Linux is an Ubuntu-based distribution which combined Ubuntu's long-term support (LTS) release with the Moksha desktop, which is a fork of the Enlightenment user interface. "Today the Bodhi Team is pleased to announce the release of Bodhi Linux 6.0. Bodhi 6.0 is built on the Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS (Focal Fossa) base. Our Arc-Green theme underwent a major revamp now featuring an animated background, updated splash screen, and numerous tweaks. The BL6 login screen now features the elegant slick greeter. Naturally, there also is a new Plymouth theme. The Moksha desktop environment has had numerous improvements and a few new features added. In addition to all this, the Bodhi Team has tried to improve support for non-English languages. As a result, we now install by default the gnome language tool. None of this would have been possible without the support of the Bodhi community and the volunteer work of our small group of translators."
