BunsenLabs Linux Lithium
The BunsenLabs development team has announced the release of BunsenLabs Linux Lithium, a major new version from the project that offers a lightweight and customisable Linux distribution based on Debian's "stable" branch and featuring the Openbox window manager: "BunsenLabs Linux is pleased to announce Lithium, the latest release of our Debian stable (currently 'Buster') derivative. Core components include the Openbox window manager, tint2, a highly configurable panel, and jgmenu - a menu replacement for the Openbox menu, featuring menu auto-updating when new applications are installed and type-to-search for finding apps in the menu. Some major features of BunsenLabs Lithium: new dark default theme, featuring custom-colored Papirus icons; more modularity and flexibility, eg. the BunsenLabs session can coexist with a default Openbox or Xfce session; Openbox can be replaced with another window manager and keep BunsenLab's auto-started apps, menu and key bindings...."

SolydXK is a Debian-based distribution that offers two main editions: KDE and Xfce. The project's latest release is SolydXK 10.4 which is based on Debian 10.4 "Buster" and offers improved privacy settings for the web browser. The release announcement reports: "The SolydXK Team has worked long and hard to create the next point release based on Debian Buster. Highlights: Based on Debian Buster 10.4 release with the latest kernel version 4.19. usr directories have been merged where the /{bin,sbin,lib}/ directories become symbolic links to /usr/{bin,sbin,lib}/. More info on the subject. Many bugs were resolved and we changed the SolydXK Firefox settings even further to improve user privacy. This is done in the firefox-solydxk-adjustments package which can be purged if you don't need it."

We are happy to announce the release of the test images of Mageia 8. These are available to early testers to help with the development towards a stable final release of Mageia 8. There have been large scale updates of all packages as well as new features implemented to improve what Mageia already offered. Some of the major improvements include improved ARM support, all packages have now been built for Aarch64 and ARM v7, completing the transition away from Python 2 and very recent hardware support. There have been many improvements to the installer, which now has better support for F2FS and Nilfs2. Both the live and classical environments have been improved with the use of ZStd compression, this will give faster boot and installation times.

Grml - new stable release 2020.06 available. This Grml release provides fresh software packages from Debian testing ('bullseye'). As usual it also incorporates current hardware support and fixes known bugs from the previous Grml release. Important changes: the default mount point for the live system was changed; tools like grml2usb, grml-paste and grml-x have been ported from Python 2 to Python 3 - we no longer support Python 2 in our tools; the live system no longer uses a custom Grml kernel - instead we switched to the 'linux-image' packages provided by Debian. New features: cloud-init support - a standard multi-distribution method for cross-platform cloud instance initialization; qemu-guest-agent support - this daemon exchanges information between the host and guest system; network information in grml-quickconfig - hostname, cloud-init, IP addresses and zeroconf/avahi information....
